Hollyhocks
Here are my gorgeous hollyhocks in full bloom despite horrendous hot dry conditions and very little water- tough little beauties aren't they?
We finally had a teeny bit of rain last night- halleluljah! But no where near enough to really help anything- those bushfires are still raging.
I also dug up some truly perfect potatoes today- that straw method really works! Nothing tastes better than freshly harvested home grown organic potatoes.

chrissie ornaments
Here are a few Christmas ornaments I made today for nephews A and F and friends. Kids make Christmas really.
Strange smokey day today with bushfires raging all around Melbourne- you couldn't get further away from the Northern Hemisphere concept of a cold Christmas if you tried. We should be celebrating the Mid-Summer Solstice, but Australians are very reluctant to admit we are part of the Southern Hemisphere.

first ever
The first ever entry in a diary is usually exciting... making that first mark on the blank page, but to be honest, this is a little weird. The luddite in me is pining for that blank piece of paper. Hopefully I'll get better at this but here I am putting my stuff out there.
I want to use this blog as a place to show my work- whatever it may be, and record my creative adventures.
To quote Brenda Ueland: "Why should we use our creative power? Because there is nothing that makes people so generous, joyful, lively, bold and compassionate, so indifferent to fighting and the accumulation of objects and money."
Yep. That about sums it up I'd say.
