Surfacing

Digital collages of several underwater images ...and a 1935 illustration of swimming styles. Sometimes I feel like I am crawling and trying to surface...but it's so beautiful down there I'm not sure why I'd want to?

Wondering why?

I have started a collage journal for 2010- random thoughts and feelings, but I will attempt to do at least one a week.

I haven't created a lot of artwork lately, mostly because I've been exercising my creativity in a slightly different way- yes, I'm showing off.
How about these beauties? Your applause is deafening, thank-you, you're too kind.
I'd like to thank Mother Nature- I just couldn't have done it without you babe!

I spotted this wonderful painting at How About Orange in an ad for one of her sponsors; the Sebastian Foster gallery, and it turns out to be titled "Rebecca wore a dress of wildflowers" by Amanda Blake.

More Spoonflower

I'm very happy with my latest Spoonflower fabrics- the colours are spot on and the the printing is excellent! The only problem I have is with the scale- all my responsibility, not Spoonflower's. I may need to reduce the size of the motifs... not sure...the photos are of the fabric laid out on an outdoor folding chair to give you a sense of scale. What do you think Weezie and Simone?
I'll be putting these up for sale now too at Spoonflower.
(There's a slight hitch with the yellow and grey deco flowers but the botanical is available for sale now.)

2010...how'd we get here so fast?

Can't believe it's 2010- my passport runs out this year, and when I got it 10 years ago I distinctly remember thinking at the time that 2010 was forever away. But it's not- it's here, and we're all going to have to start saying "Twenty Ten" because "Two Thousand and Ten" takes too long.
Those are my profound thoughts for the beginning of the year. Deep huh?

I've been mesmerised by this photo for a few weeks- apart from the fact that it's just quite beautiful, the story fascinates me. Is she going to burn the house down before she runs away? Why? And most importantly, where are her shoes? A girl can't escape effectively for long in bare feet.

Garden delights

Impossible to resist the joys of my late Spring vege garden right now- all I want to do is drift around snapping shots of the new growth and blossoms. We have had a wonderful amount of rain so far this season- certainly compared to the last 10 years, and everything is looking so happy and hydrated!
It may seem crazy to those who have more than enough rainfall, but the joy of it is intense for those of us who year after year have had to watch the soil dry out and our beloved veges struggle to hold their heads up!

Afternoon

How beautiful is my new butterfly chair cover? With the extreme heat we've been getting lately (and it's not even officially Summer yet!) this chair has been getting a real work-out.
The tomatoes appear to be loving it (the heat that is, not the butterfly chair), but who knows, maybe tomatoes appreciate good design too? They would certainly appreciate the colour.
(For those of you who have been to my house and think there is something wong with this image, it's because as a ttv shot it's reversed, and I kind of liked it this way so I didn't flip it, who says I'm backwards?)
