a week and a day

In a week and one day I'll be on my way to Mexico! Only 9 sleeps. Me siento muy afortunada!

Beautiful Cows

How gorgeous are these kissing cows? Another image I lifted from designsponge when she did her Valentine's Day entry..I loath all that stuff usually, because it's so fake, but these cows just really appeal to me.

imaginary temple

This is a place that I painted into a canvas which I have hung above my computer in my studio.
It is an imaginary temple to escape to when I feel a bit lost or overwhelmed. I think there's a view out the other side across the sea...At night you can sit out on the steps and see the moon and the stars.
The interior varies according to my mood- today there are lots of big silk covered cushions and a thick Persian carpet to loll about on...

art deco card

This a gorgeous pressed metallic art deco card that I bought for my dear friend Kerry-Ann for her birthday because it instantly reminded me of her- and her little boy. The lady in the collectibles shop assured me it is authentically art deco and I am inclined to agree with her. If only I'd been able to find an appropriate frame!
It's 38 degrees here again today and that makes it awfully hard to concentrate..on anything...at all.

Wilson's Promontory and mini-hurricane

Isn't it beautiful???Yes Wilson's Prom is amazing, and we had a couple of lovely days of swimming and bush walking before Nature decided it was time to show us who's boss and the heavens opened. We had wind gusts of up to 90km/hr and torrential rain with thunder and lightening on Saturday night...ALL night! I found myself afloat on my air-mattress in my poor battered little tent at 5am. There was nothing for it but to pack up in the rain and wind- what an adventure! Next time I may hire a cabin.

More tile necklaces

Here are a couple of new necklaces I made, still experimenting with structural details like what type of cord/ribbon to use etc. but getting there. Reading "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold at the moment...very intense, but fascinating. Off to Wilson's Prom tomorrow camping..hoorah!

Autumn girls

Despite being 38 degrees today...yes THIRTY-EIGHT DEGREES, I felt the spirit of Autumn move me to create two little Autumn girls.

Is it just denial do you think?

Of course, I SHOULD be designing swimwear... (huh Lewis?)

working on the law of attraction

Anybody see "The Secret" on t.v. last night...? A bit whacky, but apparently it's all about gratitude, positive energy and attracting to you what you want..here goes...

time passing

Just saw some photos from a school reunion I didn't attend, (thanks Fiona), but man have they made me feel OLD! How on earth did time pass so quickly?

As the Buddha says,

" Thus shall ye think of all
this fleeting world
a star at dawn, a bubble
in a stream
a flash of lightning in a
Summer cloud,
a flickering lamp, a phantom,
and a dream."

tomatoes

They are wonderous little things- much smaller this year than last but sweet and yummy none the less. I think these sketches would translate well to a screen print..or lino-cut... hmmm...or even embroidery. Ah the possibilities are endless, if only my energy was.

Australia/Survival Day

Honestly, what is the point in Nationalism?
It's too close to organised religion for me.
Nice excuse for a bbq though...and hanging some Chinese lanterns in amongst the grape vine.

inspiration at last

Finally I have begun to create some new "my stuff". Collage is my vehicle of choice at the moment, although those luscious hanks of wool are also calling to me to do some more felting. The rain must have kick started my creative juices as well as my tomatoes's....well, all living things are connected on this little planet even though we humans have a major attitude problem about it.

vintage Qld

Found this old print in an op shop and immediately loved it. It's an illustration from an old road guide to Queensland that someone else must have loved decades ago and framed. It just feels so familiar and Queenslandy to me...

mercy

I was listening to the radio this morning (RRR) and a lady called Merrick O'Shea(I think?) sang a beautiful song called "Mercy" and how we all need some even if we don't deserve it, and I thought the recent divine rain we've finally been having here in Melbourne felt like that.....mercy.

I've been a little distracted lately trying to get some commission work done for a dinnerware range- but here's a bit of purely decorative collage I did a while ago to ease the pain of commission work.
I love that Mammoth stamp.

Rain!

We had rain last night! Hoorah, actual decent rain.

Plus my tooth feels better, so here's a little paperbark bird to celebrate...
